Cromarty
At the tip of the Black Isle lies one of Scotland's treasures, the town of Cromarty. Walk through its lanes and vennels and you can almost touch seven centuries of history.
When Cromarty's trade flourished at the end of the 18th century, large houses were built for successful merchants, side by side with the cottages of the fisher folk. This once busy port and commercial centre is now an uniquely preserved historic town.
